Flash the phone with the same or higher fw version. Original firmware version can usually be found on the sticker under the battery.
Also you can check it by pressing * # powerON

Looks like you have regular gsm kind of V3i phone.
Repair pds and flash the same or higher version once again

Isn't the V3a a CDMA equivalant to the V3RE? I know locally that MetroPCS uses V3a's on their networks.
