reflash.smf - meant to be used for upgrade of software. No data will be lost from the phone. Other words, all downloaded pictures, ringtones, contacts won't be erased from the handset memory.
flash_flex - meant to be used for upgrade of software with change of flex (change of basic settings). Some data could be lost from the phone's memory after flashing.
full_flash - complete change of firmware including with EEPROM. All added data will be erased from the memory.

Thanks for the info: How can you tell the difference in the files. Meaning which company the flash file belongs to Cingular, T-Mobile Etc. Is there a way to tell the difference as to which company it is for flashing or de logoizing a phone

If the brand name is in the filename it means that the file is branded to some ISP.

And in flashing manual there write that......
SmartMoto supports 7 flash file formats (4 of them are new to Smart-Clip): *.mfw, *.mbk, *.pcf, *.smf, *.smb, *.sbf and *.shx. No other formats will be compatible.
But when I flash any set and I press the browse buttan it pick only two format files *.mfw , *.smf not other so what I do .that my smart moto also pick these 7 formats.....
I use
Smart-Clip v4.08
SmartMoto v3.16
S-Card v2.09

*.pcf, *.smf, *.smb, *.sbf and *.shx. file formats are supported by the SCout flasher.
SCout flasher can be used with the S-Card or SCout dongle.
